Michael Platen, Finance Director, MRI China Group

Michael Platen is the Finance Director for the MRI China Group.  Working closely with the CEO, Tony Dickel and all Managing Directors and Practice Leaders, his main role will be to assume control of and be responsible for optimising the group's financial performance in line with the company's ambitious expansion and development plans. He will also assist with a number of critical operational projects and the launch of a number of new business areas.

Michael joined MRI China with seven years prior experience in the recruitment industry at BNB's Swiss-based Contaplus Group.  He was later promoted to  Managing Director of Contaplus Switzerland, the country's largest specialised finance & accounting recruitment firm.  He has also set up the HR & Recruitment Solutions firm called Conciliat and worked on several international projects within various BNB operations, prior to that position. 

Before joining the recruitment industry, Michael worked for nine years in different roles for two major international firms. He started his career as an internal auditor within the French hospitality group Wagons-Lits/Accor and became the Director of Operations of their Dutch railway catering operations. In 1998, he joined the Netherlands based facility management group Vebego International, where he was a senior international business consultant and interim-manager for divisions in Germany, Portugal and Switzerland.

Michael has a Master of Science in Business Administration and a major in financial-economic management from Erasmus University Rotterdam (the Netherlands, as well as a postgraduate diploma in Management of Innovation & Change (Brisbane /Australia ; 2003).  Michael speaks Dutch, English, German and French.
