Tony Dickel, CEO, MRI China Group

Tony Dickel has been CEO of the MRI China Group since 1998. Under his stewardship, MRI was awarded ChinaSTAFF “Recruitment Firm of the Year” in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007.  MRI China is a leader in Asia region with 200 staff and nine directly owned offices in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Seoul, Taipei and Singapore together with a network of partner offices in Asia, Europe and the US. MRI China is recognised as a leader for its total solutions from executive search to recruitment process management, consultancy, research solutions and training.

A biochemist and an accountant by background, Tony spent his previous six years as CFO and Deputy COO for the ABN AMRO Asia Group, one of the largest investment banking organisations in Asia.

Prior to this, Tony was Director for Asia Pacific Business Development at Barings, in which he was instrumental in establishing numerous business activities and joint ventures in almost every country in Asia.

Tony began his Hong Kong / China career in 1986 with Price Waterhouse (now PWC), where he joined as an auditor at manager level. He was then offered a role as Group Financial Controller for Jardine Fleming, that took him all over Asia to assist with the company’s vigorous expansion at that time. He was also COO of Sotheby’s Asia, where, he masterminded and implemented the concept of “video-auctions” and established a very successful operation in Shanghai.

Tony is a UK qualified Chartered Accountant with an Honours degree in Biochemistry from Imperial College, London University. He is a keen birdwatcher and has a passionate interest in life sciences.
